Shawnee Wakeman, Ph.D. is the co-principal investigator for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte subcontract for the TIES Center. She a Clinical Associate Professor. Her areas of focus include access to the general curriculum and how it is enacted for students with significant cognitive disabilities as well as alternate assessment. She is coauthor of more than 50 publications and presentations and has served as the principal investigator or research associate for several federally funded projects including Project LEAAP and the National Collaborative and State Consortium (NCSC) project. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in the adapted curriculum designed for low incidence disabilities in both online and face to face formats and supervises student teachers.
