What is the eligibility?

Open to all and geared towards non-certificated staff who work in K-12 schools. The course is designed for paraprofessionals, teacher aides, and instructional assistants who work in schools and support the engagement and full belonging of all students, including those with disabilities.

What are the major learning modules?

A total of ten learning modules, divided into two parts, include instruction via teaching content and video by TIES Research team Drs. Jennifer Sommerness, Gail Ghere, and Jessica Bowman, plus course readings. There will be quizzes and reflections within each module. Participants must pass each module with a score of at least 80% before moving ahead to the next module. The course content is asynchronous, meaning learners can engage in course content whenever it is convenient to them.

What are the benefits of this certificate?

This certificate may be used to document your continuing education credits or for enrichment and enhancement of your professional training record.

How many credentials are earned?

The College of Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota awards a non-credit professional development Certificate in Empowering Inclusive Schools to individuals who successfully complete the certificate program as described above.

How much does it cost?

The cost to complete the certificate program is a one-time payment of $220 for an individual. Site license rates represent a per-user discount, starting at $176 per user for 10 or more users.
